About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Since its first issue in December 1956, the Brazilian Journal of Political Studies (RBEP) has revealed its vocation as the arena of scientific discussion that privileges ideas, doctrines, problems and institutes that are critically approached. The editorial line of the RBEP is of intense interdisciplinarity, opening the juridical knowledge for the humanistic, both in the classical dimension and in the social dimension, becoming space of publication and propagation of legal ideas, that dialogue with political, philosophical and social questions.

The RBEP intends to provide space for reflections on power and the State, whether in its dynamic aspect - when the ideas of Political Thought stand out - or in its institutional aspect, when it becomes an object of Law. For this reason, articles of a purely legal-dogmatic or descriptive nature are not accepted by the RBEP, which seeks to offer a qualified locus for discussing topics that require differentiated approaches and innovative methodologies, capable of coping with the challenges that contemporaneity imposes on political coexistence. Thus, articles that allow the interaction in knowledge and above all that dialogue with other articles already published during the proficient history of the Journal are welcome. The resumption of previous articles allows us to revisit and improve ideas by building a path of discussion.

Peer Review Process

The articles received by the journal will be initially evaluated to identify the pertinence of the subject, the timeliness of the sources and the dialogue with other RBEP articles. After this initial analysis, the submitted papers will go through the double blind review system, which guarantees both the collaborators and the members of the Editorial Board the necessary intellectual and critical exercise, elements without which there is no science.

History

The Brazilian Journal of Political Studies (Revista Brasileira de Estudos Políticos) - RBEP (ISSN 0034-7191 / e-ISSN 2359-5736) is a scientific journal of the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Its first issue, under the direction of its founder, Professor Orlando Magalhães Carvalho, was launched in 1956, having gathered more than 800 authors, among whom are several of the most important Brazilian intellectuals, such as Gilberto Freyre, Milton Campos, Nelson Saldanha, Vitor Nunes Leal, Miguel Reale, Raul Machado Horta, among many others.

Orlando Carvalho developed an editorial line of intense and pioneering interdisciplinarity, opening legal knowledge to humanistic knowledge, both in classical and social dimensions, making the RBEP a space for publication and dissemination of legal, political, philosophical, legal-political, social, economic and cultural ideas of the border. In the course of the decades of its history, the journal pursues its interdisciplinary vocation, contributing to the interfaces of humanistic knowledge and to the main political and humanistic debates held by the most significant universities in the world.

The RBEP is published twice a year with no less than 14 (fourteen) articles per issue. All the texts received by the journal go through a double blind review system, through which the necessary intellectual freedom and the exercise of criticism are guaranteed, both to the collaborators and to the members of the Editorial Board, elements without which there is no science. This model also certifies the necessary exogeny and the exchange of research experiences with other institutions.

The Brazilian Journal of Political Studies has Qualis A1 and is indexed in the Ulrich's Periodicals Directory, RVBI, Latindex, CLASE, Crossref, HeinOnline, Electronic Journals Library - EZB, WorldCat, Diadorim, Information Matrix for the Analysis of Journals - MIAR, IBZ Online, Blook, ERIH PLUS, DOAJ and International Bibliography of Social Sciences.
